Description
Set on a hill, circled by the river Avon, the imposing Norman Abbey dominates
the skyline. The town flourished as a weaving centre from the 15th century and
became known for its fine silk and lace. The fine 15th century Market Cross, an
Old Courtroom, narrow medieval streets and a river walk, show hints of a rich history dating back a thousand years. |
