Bourton-on-the-Water Circular Route via Stow-on-the-Wold
2 - 2.5hrs (12 miles approx):An uphill climb out of Bourton-on-the-water towards Famington, but a varied and easy ride overall

From Bourton-on-the-Water village centre, follow westwards along Lansdowne Road. Shortly you will reach the A429 (Fosseway). Turn right, after a very short distance turn left and after 200 metres, turn right towards Upper Slaughter. This lane will rise gently up the contours, with Bourton-on-the-Water visible to your right. Take the first turning on the right and drop down through the trees to the spectacularly beautiful village of Lower Slaughter.

When you reach the T-junction, turn right and follow the banks of the River Eye.

Turn left at the next junction, over the bridge and meander you way through the rest of the village. Remain on the lane, ignoring any turnings until you reach Lower Swell.

At the junction with the B4068, turn right and almost immediately left and left again to climb steadily towards Guiting Power into the shade of the trees that line either side of the lane.

Stay on the lane, ignore any turnings to you right climb steadily again up Chalk Hill. Eventually at the top you will come to a T-junction with the B4068, just beside and old limestone quarry, now restored to agriculture. Cotswolds Farm Park is a mile on your right.

At the T-junction with the Cotswolds Farm Park on your right, turn left and stay on this land for about 4 miles passing Huntsman Quarry and crossing the B4068 before eventually reaching the A429 (Fosseway) near the start of the circuit. Turn right and almost immediately left and you will return to Lansdowne and Bourton-on-the-Water.
